Native Grasses - Colorado Front Range

Although named for the start of the mountain ranges to its west, the Colorado Front Range marks the eastern most extent of the Great Plains, and grasslands is the native habitat of area. Unlike the manicured lawns of suburbia, the native grasses of the Great Plains are a mixture of many tall grasses and the natural food source for most of the native fauna.  Of the many different species that historically grew in this ecozone, three are easy to find, plant and maintain.  And the best part is they do not require mowing, nor the level of watering, fertilizing and pesticides so often used on the non-native, front lawns.
