Big Bluestem is native to much of the United States including the Colorado Front Range. It is a robust plant that can get as tall as 6-8 feet, so in backyards it is best used "in the backrow" where its height won't block your view of the other flora. It is great for establishing habitat for birds and insects, as well as the many grazers that roam the plains, but might not be in your backyard (like cows, antelope and bison).
